Westlake senior Russell Bader closed out his high school career in style on Tuesday with a three set win over Tomas Stillman of Harlingen South in the 5A tennis championship at the World of Tennis Complex at Lakeway.

Bader dropped the first set 6-3 but came back to take the 2nd set 6-3 and then won the title in a third set tiebreaker where he did not lose a point.

Bader was making his third trip to state, but first in singles.  He lost in the doubles semifinals in 2008, then in the finals of last years doubles tournament.

At the 4A State golf tournament, both the Lake Travis girls and boys finished in 2nd place.  The Cavalier girls finished seven shots behind Montgomery's A team.  Chelsea Bretcher and Kristen Miller paced Lake Travis, both finishing 12 over par for the 36 hole event.

Del Valle's Elena Warren finished 2nd in the individual at three over par and three shots behind medalist Taylor Newlin from Frisco Wakeland.

The Lake Travis boys finished in a tie for second with Montgomery, seven shots behind Dallas Highland Park.   Taylor Termeer led the Cavs by finishing eight over par, good for a tie for 7th individually.  Joe Beck III finished in a tie for 12th at ten over park after firing a two over 74 on Tuesday.
