Snow fell all day at DFW airport, resulting in nearly 10 inches—the most snow ever recorded there in a calendar day. It was the 2nd highest 24 hour snow total, surpassed only by a 1964 winter storm that produced 12 inches. It’s now the snowiest winter in Dallas in 32 years, and the 4th snowiest in history.

Incredible snow totals covered a vast area. Six to eight inches of snow were reported in Wichita Falls, Gainesville, Sherman/Denison, and Paris. A foot of snow fell just north of Denton.

North Texas wasn’t alone. Five to nine inches were reported across southern Oklahoma to the Arkansas border.

All travel in the area was discouraged, as treacherous driving conditions are expected through Friday morning.
