The Department of Public Safety said a Manor woman was killed and her young son was hurt in a one-car wreck west of Austin around 9:30 a.m. Friday.

It happened in the 1300 block of Bullick Hollow Road, on the eastern shore of Lake Travis.

The DPS said 30-year-old Janett Rodriguez was driving west when she lost control of her SUV and it struck a guardrail.

Rodriguez James Jones, who was identified as her 3-year-old son, were both thrown from the vehicle.

Rodriguez died at the scene.

Jones was taken to Dell Children's Medical Center where he was last reported in serious condition with internal injuries.

Investigators said neither of them was restrained.
