Hello everyone.

We're just a couple of days away from the official peak season in the tropics, and right on cue,  Tropical Storm Igor has formed.  A tropical storm watch has been issued for the  southern Cape Verde Islands.  The storm will continue on a westward track, and obviously bears watching over the next several days as it is forecast to become a hurricane.  It's still not clear on whether or not Igor will threaten land.  I certainly hope Igor is not as scary as the name sounds!!

Meanwhile, what's left of Hermine is still flooding Texas.  A foot of rain fell around Austin while many areas received 2-5 inches. North Texas and Oklahoma will see the heaviest rain today.  Some spots could get close to 6 inches.  The rain will then spread out to other parts of the central plains and eastward over the next few days.

Meanwhile, a cold front will push through the Northeast dropping temperatures significantly through the night.  A a system from the Pacific will bring unsettled weather across the Northwest.  Scattered thunderstorms are possible over the four corners, and with windy conditions over the region, the wildfire danger will be elevated.  This is not news that folks in Boulder, Colorado want to hear where a dangerous and destructive wildfire has taken homes and threatened lives.  Take a look at some of these pictures courtesy of the AP:

I'm sure the folks in Texas would love to donate some of their rain to help firefighters with this incredibly dangerous situation!

So that's the latest from here.  I can't wait for that cold front to come on through tonight.  I need to break out the cozy sweaters!
