The Lake Travis Cavaliers emerged from a field of 12 Central Texas 7-on-7 teams over the weekend in a qualifier for the Red Bull Game Breakers tournament. The qualifying tournament was held at Stony Point High.

Lake Travis defeated Austin High, Bastrop and Stony Point on Friday before beating Georgetown 27-18 to wrap up the title.

The Cavaliers advance to this weekend’s competition, which will be held on June 25 at the Cotton Bowl and will feature teams from Texas, Louisiana and Oklahoma.

For the most part, the Red Bull tournaments follow the same guidelines that the state passing tournament uses. One major change to the rulebook, however, is that defenses are allowed to rush a player on third downs.

A win in Dallas would give the Cavaliers a shot at two 7-on-7 titles this summer. Lake Travis has already qualified for the state passing tournament, which will be held in College Station from July 8-10.

Stony Point, Pflugerville, Belton, Copperas Cove, Cameron Yoe, Burnet, Canyon Lake and Lexington have also already qualified for the state tournament. Stony Point won the Division I tournament last year.
