It's a very busy weekend at Lake Belton as more and more Austin boaters hit the waters.

Lake Belton became a popular spot last summer because of low water levels at Lake Travis.

But many Belton businesses along the water say a lot of customers plan to keep making the drive to Bell County.

Russ Wright is Manager of Frank's Marina. He remembers when low levels became a serious problem at Lake Travis.

"Everybody that had a boat on Lake Travis couldn't use it. And we were about the only lake around that still had operating boat ramps," says Wright.

Dead Fish Grill Manager Jeff Chupik says there's a lot of reasons boaters come back to Belton.

"Belton Lake is a lot less crowded. If you go to any of the places on Lake Travis, it's longer waits."

And that includes a longer wait for restaurant tables or access to boat ramps.

As businesses at Lake Belton wind down the holiday weekend, they expect and look forward to a very busy summer.
