More pet adoptions in Austin?

A resolution from Council Members Laura Morrison and Mike Martinez to be considered today calls for carrying out ideas developed by the city's Animal Advisory Commission to increase pet adoptions and reduce the number of euthanized animals at the city's animal shelter.

The commission said in a report that the city should offer pet adoptions at more locations, start a volunteer foster program and provide low-cost spay and neuter services, among other recommendations.

If the council approves the resolution, city staffers would have until March to write a plan to implement the commission's ideas.
