Fishing: Lake Travis rising by the hour

Have you ever wished you could actually see exactly what the terrain underwater looks like? To know where the exact position of every stump, rock or cliff face is. Well, get out your camera and walk the bank of your favorite cove. Lake Travis is some 30 feet low.

That means you can actually document every nook and cranny for when the lake fills up in the coming weeks. If you have a hand held GPS then take it with you and plot way-points. The lake is at historically low levels but will be rising quickly.

This weekend may be your last time to get out there with the camera. A few pictures taken with prominent landmarks in the background can literally put you on top of that bed of stumps. Those pictures can show you the sudden drop offs. It could lead you to gravel pits and show you were the sand for spawning grounds are. A few well-snapped pictures this weekend could be your secret weapon for decades to come. So put down the rod and reel and pick up your digital camera and hand held GPS.
