About four years ago, a fire destroyed Lake Travis Fire Rescue's Hudson Bend Station 601. This Halloween, firefighters invite the public to celebrate its grand re-opening.

The community event, held at 15516 General Williamson Drive from 1–3 p.m. Oct. 30, will include a ribbon-cutting, a tour of the rebuilt station, refreshments and games.

Children can participate in trick-or-treating activities and take photos with firefighters. Lt. Jeremy Petersma will pose as "Res-Q".

John Durham, assistant fire chief of the fire prevention department, said the event will allow the LTFR to focus on identifying each station with the area it serves by connecting with the public.

"We want them to know we're all still Lake Travis Fire Rescue, but each station in particular is there to serve them," he said. "Come visit with us—our house is your house."

The station was completed in August and firefighters performed a "push-in" ceremony—pushing the fire truck into the station—Aug. 15. For more information about the event, call 266-2533.
