Gov. Perry Activates State Resources Ahead of Rain

As heavy rains and flooding continue to threaten the Rio Grande Valley Governor Rick Perry activated the state search and rescue capabilities.

The manpower and equipment are ready to respond to flooding emergencies. This includes Texas Military Forces and Texas Task Force 1 personnel and resources.

The governor activated 30 guardsmen, 10 Texas military high profile vehicles and rescue swimmers in Laredo. There are also 16 guardsmen and two black hawk helicopters in San Antonio ready to respond to flooded communities in South Texas.

The state is monitoring the storm system to decide where the resources will be most needed.
