A Flood Watch has been issued for most of Central Texas, including the Austin metro and eastern counties, through 1 a.m. Saturday. Consistent rainfall has elevated flood risks through the weekend. Scattered showers and storms are expected to increase in coverage this Friday afternoon and evening as daytime heating builds. While severe weather is not anticipated, gusty winds, lightning, and heavy downpours remain possible in a moisture-rich atmosphere, prompting a slight (2 out of 4) risk of flash flooding area-wide.

The flood threat eases slightly into the weekend but persists. Saturday will likely feature isolated showers and storms, especially early morning and late afternoon/evening, with a marginal (1 out of 4) risk of localized flash flooding. Sunday looks drier with only spotty activity. Rain chances drop sharply next week to around 10%, allowing temperatures to climb into the mid-90s as drier conditions settle in.
