The Austin Police Department has implemented a temporary ban on personal watercrafts on Lake Austin for the Labor Day weekend, effective from Friday, August 29, to Tuesday, September 2. This prohibition includes devices such as wet bikes, motorized surfboards, and similar vessels designed for sitting, standing, or kneeling, aiming to enhance public safety during the holiday period.

Non-motorized watercraft like kayaks, canoes, and paddleboards remain permitted, provided users are seated or standing within the vessel. The police will patrol the lake to enforce the ban and encourage safe boating practices. Authorities advise calling 911 for any water-related emergencies and urge the public to adhere to safety guidelines for a safe and enjoyable holiday weekend.
