A Texas Department of Public Safety trooper has gone missing on Lake
Travis, DPS officials said Tuesday, and a team of law enforcement and
emergency personnel are searching for him this morning.

DPS Trooper Wesley Chenault, 50, was reported missing Monday evening,
said DPS trooper Robbie Barrera.
Chenault, a Spicewood resident, had gone out on his personal boat to
check on his trot lines in Lake Travis about 5 p.m., just before the
stormy weather moved in, Barrera said. His wife later reported him
missing, Barrera said.
Officials are not sure whether the storms played a factor in his
disappearance, Barrera said.
Chenault has been assigned to the Capitol area since 1986, she said.
Barrera said DPS, along with officials with the Lower Colorado River
Authority, the Texas Parks and Wildlife state agency, and nearby Hill
Country area emergency and law enforcement personnel are assisting with
the search. They are using boats to search for Chenault along the
Western side of Lake Travis, police officials said.
