After seeing their boys golf team win the last two state titles, the

four seasons. Salado holds a six stroke lead over Melissa after the
first round of the Class 2A state tournament.
On the individual scoreboard, Salado’s Rachel Van Hoozer
is in third place after shooting an 80 on Monday. Teammate Taylor
O’Rear - the younger sister of three-time state champion Ryan
O’Rear - is two strokes back in eighth place.
The Salado girls golf team has won four state titles, most recently
in 2006.
Over at the Class 4A girls tournament, the Central Texas area is
looking to sweep of the gold medals. Lake Travis holds a one-stroke lead
over Montgomery’s purple team in the team competition while Del Valle’s
Elena Warren shot a 72 and is tied with Frisco
Wakeland’s Taylor Newlin for top individual honors.
At the Class 4A boys tournament, Lake Travis’ Tayler Termeer
of Lake Travis is in a four-way tie for third place. Led by Termeer,
who is five shots behind Castroville Medina Valley’s Curtis Reed,
the Lake Travis boys are in third place. The Cavaliers sit seven
strokes behind Dallas Highland Park.
The state golf tournaments will conclude on Tuesday. The Class 2A
tournament is being played at the Roy Kizer Golf Course while the Class
4A golfers are competing at the Jimmy Clay Golf Course.
