York Real Estate Services is offering a free property tax appraisal evaluation on Saturday, May 22 from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. The event will be held at Mozart’s Coffee Roasters at 3825 Lake Austin Blvd. Local residents are invited to bring their property tax assessments from Travis, Williamson or Hays counties with them. As customers enjoy a cup of coffee, the York Real Estate team of will review the tax assessment of Austin homes and those in the surrounding area.

“Too often, people do not understand what their real estate assessments mean and whether they are fair. We can provide an independent verification of comparative properties nearby so they can be sure they have not been over-assessed,” said Steve York, president of York Real Estate. “We want to do this as a helpful service to the Austin community, and we appreciate Mozart’s giving us the perfect venue to hold the event.”

The York Real Estate team will offer each participating customer a comparable market analysis (CMA) of private property which has recently sold in that area and a printout of the documentation needed should consumers wish to file a protest.

“During this tough economic time, some municipalities are increasing assessed values on real estate,” York. “Some of these changes are unwarranted. This is an opportunity for people to get an unbiased opinion. We are here to help our neighbors. They can relax while we do the work.”

While the tax assessment valuation is free, the company is accepting donations for Austin’s Trail of Lights Fund to benefit the holiday festival at Zilker Park.
