Outside Austin at Lake Travis this summer, thousands of boaters
will converge from all over Texas and beyond for something called
AquaPalooza. It’s the largest of several waterfront concerts planned
around the country, tying musical performances to boating. Inboards and outboards are lined up in
an arc of rows as if at a drive-in movie. Their focus is on a
stage, which at Lake Travis will feature country music superstar Brad
Paisley. You can see hundreds of fans clustered in the water close to
the action.
Sea Ray, the maker of a popular line of boats,
organized the events five years ago to promote the brand. All boats are
welcome.
The boats are lined up on a mooring line that separates the
fleet into navigable rows. Rules are strict, including on drinking.
Safety is heavily promoted, including life preservers.
AquaPalooza will be held on July 10, 2010. Register your boat for the event online at www.aquapalooza.com.
