Austin, Bowie and Crockett baseball teams open playoffs

The baseball teams from Austin High, Bowie and Crockett face playoff
opponents this weekend. The Maroons tangle with Churchill while Bowie
faces San Antonio Reagan. Crockett seeks revenge against regular season
foe Lake Travis. All three clubs compete in a best-of-three games
series.
Led by pitchers Josh Hodges and Andrew Boes, as well as a
productive offense, Austin earned a fourth place finish in District
25-5A to qualify for the extended season. "It was tough," Austin coach
Glenn Bacak said. "We won some games we needed to win." Game one begins
at 7 P.M. on Friday at Burger Field. The second game will be at the
Blossum Athletic Complex in San Antonio. If necessary, the third game
will commence at 4 P.M.
Bowie begins another playoff appearance
against Reagan. The Rattlers host the Bulldogs Friday at Blossum,
beginning at 7 P.M. Coach Rudy Alvarez will lead Bowie into battle in
the second game at Burger beginning at 1 P.M. Saturday with a third
game, if necessary, starting at 4 P.M.
Facing former coach Roy
Kinnan, Crockett visits the Cavaliers Thursday at 7:30 P.M. First pitch
in the second game at Crockett's Garrison Field will be thrown at 7 P.M.
If necessary, the third game will begin at Garrison on Saturday at 1
P.M.
