Central Texas water utilities don’t want you flushing unnecessary water
and money down the drain.
The cities of Austin and Cedar Park,
along with a few other agencies are trying to make sure people keep
water conservation top of mind, as weather conditions this summer are
predicted to shift.
Officials are urging people to not to let the
fact that Lake Travis is full fool them.
"We're just one day away
from the next drought. So, with that, we have to make conservation an
everyday value, not just a value during droughts, but an everyday value
as we lead our lives," Austin Water Utility spokesperson Greg Meszaros
said.
One of the biggest water wasters is leaky toilets. They can waste 200
gallons of water a day.
Another common offender is irrigation
systems. Be sure to water your yard on according to the Travis County watering schedule. (If you live in Cedar Park, follow the Cedar Park watering schedule)
Water wasters inside Austin can be
reported to the city’s non-emergency number 311.
