Reopening of Ski Shores under new management! For those people who have
been in Austin for a few years, you might have heard of a place called
Ski Shores.
Ski Shores has been a small Austin institution for over 50
years on the shores of Lake Austin. The restaurant closed last December
after 50 years in business. In its previous state, it was a small
restaurant right on the water that served burgers and pizza while you
sat on picnic tables as you floated above the lake.
According to the
Austin Business Journal, Ski Shores is opening the week of April 12th
under new owners; the same owners that operate Little Woodrow's,
Austin Java, Uncle Billy's Brew & Que and the Austin-area
Texadelphia restaurants.
I have been waiting for it to reopen. Although
the burgers, pizzas, catfish sandwiches will still be offered, the size
of the menu and the physical size of the restaurant has increased. Let's
check out the updated restaurant.
Getting Here: The restaurant is within the
Austin city limits, but it is a drive. It's relatively near Emma Long
Park. Here are the directions: 1. Take 2222 North from Loop 360. 2. At
the first light, turn left on City Park Road and travel about 4 1/2
miles. 3. About 2 miles before you get to Emma Long Park, you'll see a
sign for Ski Shores that directs you to take the next left turn on
Pearce Road. You'll drive down the twisty road and at the bottom, you'll
see Ski Shores on your left side.
