Travis County officials are investigating the discovery of a body
floating in Lake Travis near Hippie Hollow around noon on Wednesday.
Investigators have not released an apparent cause of death, nor said
how long the body might have been there. Authorities say the body is a
Caucasian woman in her 60s, and had not been identified on Wednesday
afternoon.
A visitor from Florida, George Willis, told KXAN he
was walking in the park and saw something red in the water. He walked
over to see what it was, thinking it was a raft.
Then he saw the
woman's ponytail, screamed to help her, and then realized she wasn't
breathing. That's when he ran to alert park officials.
The woman
was fully clothed, wearing a red jacket, and appeared to be dressed for
colder temperatures, Willis said.
