With the arrival of Memorial Day comes the unofficial first day of summer, and for many in Central Texas that means flocking to the water. This year, however, water levels are a little down on the idea.
Lake Travis is measuring at about 20 feet below average, and only four boat ramps are open, which could create some long waits.
"I don't know if I'll be out too much the rest of the weekend because of the crowds, but I figured probably today and Monday morning are probably the best bets for water sports on the water," lake lover Justin Dietrich said.
A personal watercraft ban is in effect on Lake Austin this weekend. It ends at sunrise Tuesday morning. The ban includes jet skies, wet bikes, motorized surfboards and other similar devices.
