Lake Travis homes flooded, lake continues to rise

Many homes along Lake Travis are beginning to flood, with the water expected to continue to rise.

For those living on Graveyard Point Road, facing a flood is nothing new.

“I’ve become pretty much the backbone of taking things out and putting things back when this does happen,” said Matt Morrow.

Morrow’s home hasn’t been touched yet by the rising water levels of Lake Travis, but if the lake was to rise just four more feet, it’d be in his front door. Along with help from friends and family, Morrow is left doing something he has done many times before.

“Preparing to move non-essential items to higher ground, and putting the rest of our stuff in storage, just hoping that we will stay below 693 feet,” said Morrow.

Over the past 20 years, Morrow says he’s had to move all of his belongings out of his home and to higher ground four times. Not too far from Morrow’s home, many others are already under water. One couple just a few doors down says they’ve faced eight floods in the past 20 years.

“It’s like moving out to move back in in a couple of weeks. It’s very stressful and backbreaking,” said Morrow.

Even with the headache of constantly moving items back and forth, Matt says he has no plans on leaving his home anytime soon, but rather keep an eye on the lake levels.

“You just kind of know when you live at Graveyard point that this is a fact of life,” said Morrow.
