Water rescue teams are in a recovery mission to find a drowning victim at Pace Bend Park on Lake Travis, in the Spicewood area.

Travis County Emergency Services District # 8 responded around 6:35 p.m. with a boat and other agencies responded with extra rescue equipment.

Lt. Mike Burschnick with the Travis County Sheriff’s Office said when they got there, they tried to find the swimmer by doing quick dives, but were unsuccessful.

The underwater recovery team will be in the water tonight and they are hoping to recover the body this evening.

Various witnesses called 911 and said they heard someone yelling for help and that a swimmer might have gone under water.

The victim is believed to a man in his mid-20s.
