Dallas Jesuit senior Jordan Spieth, ranked No. 2 nationally in the class of 2011, signed a letter of intent Wednesday to play golf next year for the University of Texas. Spieth, whose considerable accomplishments include winning the 2009 U.S. Junior Amateur and tying for 16th last spring in the Byron Nelson Championship, chose the Longhorns over … well, just about everybody with a scholarship to offer.

“It’s just a matter of where I felt most comfortable and where I felt I could have the most success as a team and an individual,” said Spieth, who made his verbal commitment to Texas in February. “I’ve never had any second guesses,” he said. “I’ve never looked back.”

Tayler Termeer, a Lake Travis senior and son of former Longhorn Steve Termeer, also signed with Texas. Termeer has won seven junior tournaments this year, including the George Hannon Junior Invitational at his new home course, The University of Texas Golf Club. (His father is the general manager there.)
