A man drowned in Lake Travis near Starnes Island this afternoon after disappearing over the side of a boat, according to Captain Art Cardenas of the Travis County Sheriff’s Office.

Multiple units responded to a call at 4:15 p.m. that a man had gone overboard and did not resurface, Cardenas said.

After 51 minutes underwater, he was found at Starnes Island and pulled from the water, Cardenas said.

Paramedics performed CPR on the man and pronounced him dead on scene, Cardenas said. The man’s name and age have not been released.

Police are still investigating what led to the man’s drowning, Cardenas said.
