As heavy rains and flooding continue to threaten the Rio Grande Valley
Governor Rick Perry activated the state search and rescue capabilities.
The
manpower and equipment are ready to respond to flooding emergencies.
This includes Texas Military Forces and Texas Task Force 1 personnel and
resources.
The governor activated 30 guardsmen, 10 Texas
military high profile vehicles and rescue swimmers in Laredo. There are
also 16 guardsmen and two black hawk helicopters in San Antonio ready to
respond to flooded communities in South Texas.
The state is
monitoring the storm system to decide where the resources will be most
needed.
