Scattered thunderstorms and showers continue in Austin this afternoon
as Tropical
Storm Alex continues to fade, the National
Weather Service said.
The service reported that a patch of heavier rain appears to be
moving toward Austin and that a flash
flood watch is still in effect for Central Texas until 7 tonight.
However, Travis and Williamson are among several Central Texas counties
not included in that flash flood watch.
Rainfall of a half inch to an inch is expected tonight, the service
said.
Officially, Austin-Bergstrom International Airport received about a
half inch of rain yesterday and 0.19 inches today. Camp Mabry had 0.2
inches yesterday and 0.07 inches today. Parts of southern Travis County
saw almost an inch of rain yesterday, the service said.
Central Texas skies are expected to stay cloudy for the next couple
of days, said Amanda Fanning with the weather service. Rain chances fall
to 20 percent on Sunday, she said.
Meanwhile, Alex - now a Tropical Storm - is in Central Mexico and continues to
move west. The service expects the storm to be downgraded to a
depression by this evening.
