Carlos 'n Charlie's cancelled its big fireworks show planned for Lake
Travis tonight due to heavy rains, though other shows throughout the
weekend are expected to go on.
Across town, workers were busy
getting ready for Sunday's big event on Lady Bird Lake. The Austin
Symphony Orchestra will put on the biggest celebration in Central
Texas.
"We get around 100,000 people here, so it's really a fun
time," said Don Hill with the Austin Symphony Orchestra.
He says
if the rains continue through the weekend, it shouldn't hamper the
festivities. But, they have alternative plans in place just in case.
"We sure want to go ahead with the concert if it all possible. Right
now we're not going to make a decision if the concert is going on or
not until right before the concert. With musical instruments it's hard
to play in the rain, so if there's a big storm coming through or
threatening," said Hill.
He continued, "If it looks like it's
not going to stop we may play part of the concert, or just go ahead with
the fireworks as planned. Because, we do have some pre-recorded music
we can use for the fireworks."
