Westlake, Lake Travis among Lone Star Cup leaders

Two Central Texas high schools finished second in the 2009-10 Lone
Star Cup competition, according to results released Thursday by the
University Interscholastic League.
Westlake finished as the Class
5A runner-up behind The Woodlands, while Lake Travis took second in
Class 4A, placing just behind Friendswood.
The other Lone Star Cup
champions were Lucas Lovejoy in 3A, Brock in 2A and Cayuga in Class A.
Schools
earn Lone Star Cup points based on their teams' results in various
UIL-sanctioned athletic and academic championships.
This past
school year, The Woodlands won state championships in boys cross
country, boys swimming and diving and girls soccer. The Highlanders have
won four Lone Star Cup titles in the past five years.
Friendswood
and Brock won their second consecutive Lone Star Cup championships,
while Lucas Lovejoy and Cayuga earned their first titles.
Other
Central Texas schools to finish in the top 10 of their classifications
were: Bowie, Class 5A; Dripping Springs, Class 4A; Wimberley and La
Grange, Class 3A; and Salado, Class 2A.
