Losing is not something Texas high school football fans are used to seeing Lake Travis do, but last Friday night in the Cotton Bowl, about 1,000 people caught a brief glimpse of the Cavaliers’ mortality.

Lake Travis lost 21-20 to Cy-Fair to earn an early exit from the Red Bull Game Breakers 7on7 regional tournament, after opening with a 27-26 win over West Mesquite.

While the loss was unexpected, what the team takes from the loss could be nearly as valuable as anything the players have learned during the school’s run of success on the gridiron — losing is never fun.
