"I love to hunt and fish. Nobody knows that I never get a chance to hunt or play golf anymore," said Cavaliers head coach Hank Carter.

Carter was named head coach of the Cavaliers when his mentor and former high school coach Chad Morris left for Tulsa.

"I can remember the first time I saw him. We were standing in-line for physicals and I thought who is this cotton-top blond haired dork who thinks he's going to come in here and tell us what we're doing. I learned pretty quick that he was a pretty serious guy," said Carter.

From there a relationship developed that led Carter and Morris to Bay City, Stephenville, and eventually Lake Travis together.

Now the 34-year-old Carter is the head coach of a program that hasn't lost a game since September of 2007.

"I think the wins will take care of themselves. We've got a great bunch of players back from last year with a lot of experience. That definitely helps. This is my first head coaching job, but I feel like I'm ready. The time's right. The easy part is lets go out and play football. I can't wait till the fall."

Lake Travis has won three state championships with two different coaches. This year they'll be going for their fourth straight state title with their third new coach. The good news? This time it will be a much easier transition.

"When there's a coaching change, it's really hard on the kids, because they have to learn a new offense a new defense. I think everybody's happy with the way things are going. I really thought that that would help, and I think it did. The rest is history I guess."

"I'm excited. I'm not nervous one bit. I don't think anyone else is really. It's been such a smooth transition. Everything's the same. We're just really looking forward to getting it done in the fall," said Cavaliers quarterback Michael Brewer.

It all starts at DKR Texas Memorial Stadium, August 28th against Westlake.
