Businesses at Lake Travis are preparing for a busy holiday weekend
after last summer’s intense drought dried up sales.
Just For Fun, a boat and jet ski rental business at Lake Travis, has
even added additional party boats in hopes of rebounding financially.
“We are all excited about the water
levels right now. If mother nature holds back and gives us good
sunshine, it can't be anything but good,” said Just For Fun Manager,
Hawkeye Roth.
Lake Travis is currently about eight
feet above normal, which is 50 feet above last summer's low.
“Now we can actually come out and
enjoy Lake Travis and enjoy what living in Austin is all about,” said
Austin resident Elizabeth Zerega.
A special task force made up Travis
County Sheriff’s Deputies, LCRA Rangers, and Texas Game Wardens will
patrol the lake this holiday weekend to enforce safe boating behavior.
Rangers say for visitors to pack their
patience. During holiday weekends, boat ramps experience two to three
hour wait times.
