On the Road Again

Second Street is now Willie Nelson Boulevard. Council approved a resolution designating the stretch between Trinity and San Antonio streets in honor of the legendary country singer. The U.S. Postal Service will recognize both streets. Mayor Lee Leffingwell suggested businesses label their cards with the honorary name. With the help of nonprofit Capital Area Statues (CAST), a permanent bronze maquette model was installed on West Second Street, close to the new Austin City Limits Studio in early May. The street signs plan to be installed this summer and will cost less than $2,000.
