Who was HOT

• Garrett Gilbert: New starter, no problem. Gilbert - sporting his new jersey No. 7, which was the number he wore at Lake Travis - showed excellent touch on several throws, including short, medium and long passes.
  
  
• DeSean Hales: Every time you looked, it seemed he was catching a pass in 11-on-11 drills.
  
  
• Christian Scott: He intercepted a Gilbert pass and delivered a huge hit on Tré Newton.

Who was NOT

• Curtis Brown: He got beat on three successive plays, but did bounce back late with two pass breakups that had Duane Akina raving.
  
  
• Sherrod Harris: Never looked comfortable, and missed too many passes for a senior quarterback.
  
  
• The H-back set: Too early to tell for sure - that's the good news - but we saw few positive plays in the running game from the two-back formation.
